For the first time in over 20 years the Happy Hearts Appeal collection might not take place in Thurles due to the lack of a local coordinator.
The annual fundraiser for the Irish Heart Foundation takes place across the country with on-street collections from May 9th to 11th.
While there is a team of Happy Heart volunteers in Thurles willing to sell the Happy Heart badges the lack of a local coordinator is putting the fundraiser in jeopardy.
The funds raised each year aid in the fight against heart disease and stroke.
The Irish Heart Foundation is seeking someone to take on the role of coordinator to ensure the Thurles collection can go ahead.
