Thurles Councillor questions Ministerial exemption from Household Charge

A County Tipperary public representative claims Government Ministers will be exempt from paying the Household Charge.

The new €100 charge comes into force at the end of the month.

A section on the Oireachtas website says “Residential property owned by a Minister of the Government” is exempt from the levy.

Thurles based Councillor Jim Ryan has been trying to get clarification on the issue from various departments but has failed to get a satisfactory answer.
