The Health Minister says public sector workers deserve pay restoration.

Workers are set to gain around €1,000 next year and a similar amount in 2017.

In return there would be a two year extension to the Haddington Road Agreement – delivering further reforms and effective industrial relations peace.

Health is the biggest employer with around 100,000 in the public health service – Minister Varadkar is hopeful of a deal saying they deserve pay restoration at this stage following the sacrifices made over the last number of years.

However he says they want to retain and build on the reform and productivity of the Haddington Road and Croke Park agreements.
