Taoiseach expresses confidence in Garda Commissioner

Leo Varadkar’s expressed confidence in the Garda Commissioner.

It’s the first time he’s done so since becoming Taoiseach.

Following yesterday’s Public Accounts Committee meeting yesterday he was asked in the Dáil this afternoon if it was time for Noirín O’Sullivan to go:

Meanwhile, Mary Lou McDonald claims she’s still not sure if there’s sexism in An Garda Siochána.

She’s been criticised for asking the force’s Commissioner if she carries any clout as a woman.

But the Sinn Féin deputy leader says it was a legitimate query after allegations of financial mismanagement at the Garda training college.

Noirin O’Sullivan was called before the Public Accounts Committee yesterday to answer questions about the issue.

However Deputy McDonald is still no clearer about potential gender bias.
