Suspended sentence for Tipperary woman attempting to smuggle drugs into prison.

 


A County Tipperary woman has been given a suspended sentence after she tried to smuggle drugs into the Midlands Prison.

On February 8th last year Ann Marie Delaney, of 66 Sheehane, Roscrea attempted to bring diazepam tablets and cannabis resin to her husband who was then a prisoner in the jail.

The accused admitted the offence when arrested.

The court heard that Ann Marie Delaney was asked by a woman in the prison car park to give the drugs to her husband who would in turn pass them on to another prisoner.

She was given a six-month sentence which was suspended for two years
