Speculation of major job losses at Tipperary’s leading employer.

There could be bad news on the jobs front for Clonmel in the coming weeks.

This is after unconfirmed reports that 152 workers are to be made redundant at the Abbott Vascular plant in the town.

The redundancies for the workers who are on fixed contracts are expected to take effect at the end of November.

It’s also understood that a further 300 redundancies may be undertaken by the firm in March 2013.

There are currently 1600 people employed at the Clonmel facility which focuses on treatment for vascular care.

The Abbott Vascular plant in Clonmel was opened in May 2008. It’s the largest employer in the South East.
