South Tipp General and Limerick the most overcrowded

The two main hospitals serving Tipperary are the most overcrowded in the country today.

South Tipp General in Clonmel has 35 patients without a bed today – 20 of these are on trolleys around the Emergency Department with 15 being cared for on wards.

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives there 36 people waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick which serves North Tipp – the Dooradoyle health facility has 17 on trolleys and 19 in overflow areas of wards.

Nationally the nursing union reports 428 patients who’ve been admitted to hospitals across the country are without a bed today.
