Several collisions have also lead to the closure of a section of the Clonmel to Cahir road while the M8 northbound remains shut at Twomileborris. Cashel, Templemore, Cappawhite and Cahir are the worst affected by the power outages with over 340 hit in Cashel, a further 370 in Loughtagalla along with nearly four hundred on the Tipp Limerick border in Cappawhite – ESB crews are on site and power is expected to be restored to the majority of those affected before midday.
The heavy snow has also lead to a number of school closures most of which are in the Carrick on Suir Electoral areas including Killenaule, Glengoole, Ballingarry, Moyglass and several national schools and pre schools in Cashel – which have been also been affected by the power outage.
Elsewhere the M 8 remains closed Northbound due to a crashed truck – Diversions are in place with northbound traffic being diverted onto the old road and southbound traffic being diverted back through Thurles. The Cashel to Clonmel Road is also closed due to an earlier collision in Rosegreen – Motorists are advised to take an alternative route.
