Ongoing problems with contamination from former mining sites in the Silvermines area have been highlighted to officials from the Department of Natural Resources.
Local TD Alan Kelly brought the delegation – which was led by Minister of State Sean Kyne – to view the legacy issues that residents of the area are having to deal with.
The Minister met with local residents to discuss their serious concerns regarding their health and livelihoods.
Deputy Kelly is now waiting to hear back from Minister Kyne on what plans he will put in place.
Deputy Kelly also arranged for Minister Kyne to meet with one of the key principals involved in the €650 million hydro electric plant as well as representatives from Tipperary County Council during his visit to Silvermines this week.
