While the year on year figures for those signing on the Live Register in Tipperary have fallen, there was a marked increase from November to December.
Latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show a drop of 235 in North Tipperary between December 2011 and December 2012.
The reduction in South Tipperary is less at 147.
However the month on month figures show significant increases – up 223 in North Tipperary from November to December and up 339 in South Tipperary.
