Garda investigations in Tipperary are ongoing following a serious assault in Cappawhite in the early hours of Friday morning.
One man remains in custody . He is being questioned under section four of the Criminal Justice Act in relation to the assault.
A man suffered serious head injuries following the assault in which it is alleged a samurai sword was used.
He has been named locally as Martin Butler, who is in his 50's.
Gardai in Tipperary town are continuing to appeal appeal for information.
