The Transport Minister is being urged to address safety issues on the M7 in Tipperary.

The on/off ramps at Roscrea and Moneygall have been highlighted as a major concern by local Labour TD Alan Kelly.

He says the sharp bends in the ramps leading onto the motorway are a danger, especially for larger vehicles.

The Birdhill area of the M7 has seen a number of fatalities – including an elderly couple from North Tipp in recent days.

Alan Kelly claims that insufficient drainage is causing hazardous conditions following heavy rainfall and flash floods.

He wants Minister Shane Ross and Transport Infrastructure Ireland to reassess the areas to see if there may have been issues during the initial construction of the motorway.

Deputy Kelly told Fran Curry on Tipp Today that a tip off has led this investigation.
