A young man has died following a crash near Tipperary Town early this morning.

He is the 2nd person to lose their lives on Tipperary’s roads this week.

The single vehicle crash happened on the N24 between Tipperary Town and Bansha.

Gardaí were called to the scene at Lacken, Kilshane just a few kilometres from Tipp at around 4.40am.

It’s understood the car – which was travelling towards Bansha – left the road and struck a wall.

The driver and only occupant of the vehicle – a man in his 20s – was seriously injured and removed by ambulance to South Tipperary General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the crash or who may have information to contact Tipperary Garda Station on 062 80670, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Today’s crash follows another fatal collision in County Tipperary on Monday night when a man in his 70s died after a head-on collision on the motorway near Cahir.

It brings to 4 the number of people killed on Tipperary’s roads in the first 6 weeks of 2018.
