Report finds some residents of a Tipperary nursing home drank too much.

A HIQA report into a County Tipperary Nursing Home claims some residents drank too much while socialising locally, putting their safety at risk.

It found that some residents of the HSE run Cluain Arran Welfare Home in Tipperary Town continued to socialise in the community on a regular basis.

The inspectors found that the consumption of alcohol by some of the residents was excessive and problematic.

The HIQA report also found a lack of proper monitoring of residents who took their own medication.

However it also said that many of the residents continued to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
