Pistorius trial hears Reeva Steenkamp was standing when shot

The Oscar Pistorius trial has heard claims Reeva Steenkamp was standing in the bathroom facing the closed door when she was shot.

South African police captain Chris Mangena says she was hit in the hip, arm and head.

The athlete who denies murder has suggested his girlfriend went to the toilet without him knowing on the night she died.

Forensic science expert, Colonel Ian Van Der Nest, does not believe she was using the toilet when she was shot.

“And there was also an inter-relationship between the defect in the elasticated band of the pants and the wound to the hip of the deceased” he said.

“And that would be an indication to me that the pants were in the normal wearing position” he added.
