Tipperary people are to be asked about their experience while in hospital.

HIQA is launching its first ever patient survey which will form part of a national programme with the aim of shaping the future of healthcare in Ireland.

It will take on board the views of people who have been hospitalised during the month of May.

Similar studies are already used in New Zealand, Scotland and Denmark.

Health Information Manager for the National Patient Experience Survey Programme Tracy O’Carroll says they’ve decided to follow suit here in Ireland.

Meanwhile University Hospital Limerick is the most overcrowded in the country again today.

The ED at Dooradoyle which serves north Tipperary has 39 patients waiting for a bed.

The INMO says 23 are on trolleys and 16 on overflow areas in other wards.

South Tipp General is also very busy with 21 while the national total is 462.
