Partner unhappy with inquest into death of Tipperary man

The partner of a Tipperary man who died of a brain haemorrhage says she has no faith in the Irish hospital system.

Mother of five Gwen Bradley was speaking after the inquest into the death of Evan Morrissey.

Evan Morrissey of Fr Meehan Crescent in New Inn began to complain of a very severe headache and nausea on March 2nd, 2014 and was taken by ambulance to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel where he was diagnosed with migraine and discharged.

An inquest at Cork City Coroner’s Court heard that the 28 year old returned to the hospital twice more that month complaining of headaches before being transferred to Cork University Hospital on March 18th.

He subsequently died there on March 22nd.

Following the conclusion of the inquest Evan Morrissey’s partner Gwen Bradley said she didn’t believe the hearing didn’t allow her solicitor to get satisfactory answers about his treatment at South Tipp General.

She instructed solicitor Cian O’Carroll to withdraw from the inquest when the coroner refused to allow him ask a CUH consultant about the treatment Evan Morrissey has received each time he visited the Clonmel hospital.
