Water is slowly returning to parts Louth and Meath after a week of disruption.

The burst pipe which caused the outage has finally been fixed at the fourth attempt.

But local businesses are counting the cost of the outages and many have lost thousands of Euro.

Glenn McGowan is a director of the popular family owned Scholars Townhouse Hotel in Drogheda.

He says over the past week, they’ve had to turn tourists away, hire less staff and buy a water tanker at a cost of €5,000.

Glen says takings have also been massively hit with a hit of up to €10,000

Irish Water says the burst water main which caused all the trouble has been fixed.

Reservoir levels are filling up and supply has slowly started returning to the North East.

However – it will be several days for all homes and business to get their supply back.
