Ryan pays tribute to players after All Ireland success

Tipperary are All-Ireland senior hurling champions for the 27th time.

The Premier County won the title for the first time in six years by beating Kilkenny 2-29 to 2-20 in this year's final at Croke Park.

Manager Michael Ryan says Tipp were always in control of the game.

Brendan Maher became the first Tipperary captain to raise the Liam McCarthy Cup at Croke Park since Eoin Kelly had the honour of doing so in 2010.

He says the players he leads are made of the right stuff.

The county's minor hurling team also had reason to celebrate at GAA HQ yesterday.

They were crowned All-Ireland champions after beating Limerick 1-21 to 0-17 in the final.

This was Tipp's twentieth title in the minor grade.

Manager Liam Cahill believes the strength of his panel was crucial to securing victory.
