Old Convent takes top two Tipp Restaurant Awards

In all 60 awards were presented at the Munster Regional final by the Irish Restaurant's Association.

The Irish Restaurant Awards cover a number of categories including best chef, gastro pub, casual dining and customer service among others.

The Old Convent in Clogheen was a double winner taking the Best Restaurant, and best chef for Dermot Gannon.

The Derg Inn in Terryglass was honoured for Best Gastro Pub, while the Best Casual Dining award went to Prime 74 in Tipp Town.

Hotel Minella in Clonmel scooped the award for best Hotel Restaurant. Lava Rock in Cahir took the accolade for Best Customer Service.

Cahir also took the honour for Pub of the Year which went to Morrissey's Bar.

Chez Hans in Cashel also made the winners circle for Best Wine Experience.

One business which has quickly made a mark is Dooks Fine Foods in Fethard which won the award for Best Newcomer.

All County winners now compete for the Regional and All Ireland title which will be announced in May.
