The four month old was rushed to hospital on the 28th of December last following an incident at a house in the county.
The infant was then transferred to Crumlin Children's Hospital but he was pronounced dead on New Year's Day.
A woman in her 20's was arrested by gardaí yesterday in connection with the incident and is being held at Claremorris Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
