Speculation suggests that ex Liverpool, Inter Milan and Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez will take over on a three year deal and his first task will be to keep the Magpies in the top flight.
Newcastle are currently second from bottom in the league and their next game is away to Leicester on Monday night.
Former Newcastle midfielder Rob Lee says Benitez is a good choice to take over the reigns.
Meanwhile, the first of this weekend'ss FA cup quarter finals takes place tonight when Reading host Crystal Palace.
