New research to support bid for plan cigarette packets

New research is set to be unveiled today – which will show that Irish teenagers are influenced to smoke by cigarette packaging.

The study of 15 and 16 year-olds was carried out by the Irish Cancer Society and Irish Heart Foundation – both of which support the introduction of plain-packaging for all tobacco products.

Health Minister James Reilly will speak at the launch of the study.

And, the Irish Heart Foundation's Chris Macey, says the decision to introduce plain-packaging is a brave decision.
