New members ratified to LCDC

The Local Community Development Committee is made up of representatives who are members of the Local Authority, other state agencies, community and voluntary sector and social partners.

This months meeting of Tipperary County Council ratified the four nominees put forward by the Tipperary Public Participation Network.

Community activist, South Tipperary Development Company member and Honorary Secretary of the Tipperary International Peace Convention Martin Quinn was one of two people appointed to the Community and Voluntary Committee.

He will be joined there by Eoin Wolohan from Templemore who is secretary of the St Sheelan’s Community Childcare group and part of the Mid-Tipp Hillwalking Club.

Dromineer based Charles Stanley Smith has been ratified onto the Environmental College seat – he is a member of the Board of Directors of An Taisce.

The Social Inclusion seat is to be filled by John Lupton who is chairman of the Roscrea Community Development Council and local community activist.

The LCDC is independent of the Local Authority in the discharge of its functions and is responsible for the development of the community element of the Local Economic & Community Plan.
