A new floodlighting system has been approved for the Rock of Cashel.
OPW Minister Kevin “Boxer” Moran has confirmed a state of the art system is to be installed at the iconic tourist attraction.
Work is to start immediately to replace the old wiring system which was originally installed in 1952.
This has become corroded and unsafe over the years which meant the floodlights had to be turned off.
Deputy Michael Lowry says many locals had contacted him to have the floodlights restored.
