New car sales down in Tipperary

2017 is proving unpredictable for the Irish motor industry.

New research carried out by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry and DoneDeal, shows used car imports increased by over 56 percent compared with last year.

The number of new cars sold in Tipperary is down 13.7% on 2016 in the first quarter of this year.

Figures show a drop of 345 to 2,175 new T registrations.

Economist Jim Power says based on sales for 2017 so far, it is possible that new registrations for the full year could be down 10 percent on 2016.
