Movement on Bulmers visitor centre in Clonmel

Tipperary County Council is reporting good progress in developing the former Bulmers site in the heart of Clonmel as a tourist attraction.

Commercial cider production was started in Dowd’s Lane in the 1930s, by local man William Magner. In 1937 he joined forces with the English cider-makers H.P. Bulmer.

Plans to turn the site into a visitor centre took a major step forward last year when Bulmers gave their support to the project which aims to attract up to 100,000 visitors a year when up and running.

District Administrator for the Clonmel Borough Anthony Coleman says all going well a planning application could be lodged before the end of the year.
