More information needed in relation to change in PPS number for some women

.A Tipperary senator is calling for a  special Awareness Campaign from the Department of Social Protection in relation to the change in PPS numbers for women were married prior to the year 2000.

Senator Landy raised concerns in the Seanad, on behalf of number of constituents that have had their social welfare payments withdrawn.
This is after he was contacted by women in  Carrick-on-Suir in the past week who said they'd handed in their existing ID cards to claim Carer's Allowance. They were told that they had disappeared from the system and  their previous PPS numbers were no longer valid.
They were also told their  old cards were being withdrawn, even though their new ones had yet not issued.
Senator Landy's   calling on the Department to wake up to what is happening.
He wants   a Nationwide Awareness Campaign undertaken to deal with the issue proper information given to those who are going to be affected prior to their PPS numbers being changed.
