More claims of abuse by Spiritan priests

Fresh allegations have emerged against priests from the Spiritan  religous congregation while they were in ministry in Africa.
A  report in to-day's Irish Times includes  details of  child abuse allegations against  a former Rockwell College priest Fr. Henry Moloney arising from his time in Bo, Sierra Leone`where he served from
1973 to 1979 .
Prior to this he  worked at St. Mary's Templeogue College  Dublin and in 2000 and 2009 was sentanced for abusing four boys while  there.
On his return from Sierre Leone he was appointed to Rockwell College  and remained there  for sixteen years before he was removed from the ministry.
It has also emerged that  he had access to the  internet while under supervision at the congregation's Kimmage Manor House, where he lives, and in 2010 posted enteries on a blog.
Meanwhile a separate a detailed  account  is given of alleged abuse of seminarians at Rockwell  College  by then  novitiate Director   Fr. Christopher Meagher, now deceased. These allegations were made by a novitiate who attended the college from 1954 – 1957 in preparation for the priesthood. He  has since had a distinguished international career and he recalled Meagher as violent, predatory and dangerous.

A spokesman for the order  expressed profound regret  at the allegations and said the content of the new reports were consistent with complaints received by them against individual priests including Fr. Meagher.
