Michael Lowry highlights problems with changes to school transport scheme

Deputy Michael Lowry has raised concerns over the impact of changes to the Post Primary Transport Scheme on Tipperary Schools.

The North Tipperary Independent T.D voiced his concerns in the Dáil last evening regarding the impact of the changes on families in Tipperary and on the viability of rural secondary schools into the future.

He explained that the change from a catchment system to being eligible for subsidised transport to the closest suitable school only, has drastically limited the number of children that are eligible for transport to any given school therefore negatively impacting enrolment figures.
