MEP says Ireland should cash in on Olympics

A Tipperary MEP has called for tourism visas for London, to be extended for the summer.

Labour MEP Phil Prendergast says the current system only allows for travellers from 16 countries, who travel to the UK, to then go on to Ireland without requiring another visa.

She says this needs to be extended temporarily.

The Clonmel based MEP says that Ireland could benefit enormously from the Olympic Games and we need to do everything we can to encourage Olympic tourists to travel to Ireland, as part of their trip.
