A man has been shot at a petrol station near Dublin Airport.

The victim who was in his early 30’s received a number of head injuries and has been taken to hospital.

The shooting took place here at a Topaz garage near the airport at around 1.30.

A black Lexus car which was seen leaving the scene was later found burnt out in Co. Louth

The man who was shot had been travelling in a wine coloured Ford Mondeo which the gardaí have just removed from the scene here.

At least one of the front windows was smashed in.

Gardaí have been stopping cars leaving both the garage and a hotel across the road – and a number of witnesses who were in the garage at the time remain there for questioning.

Though it’s early stages it’s believed the shooting is connected to the Kinahan / Hutch gang feud – and there are suggestions that the victim was wearing a bulletproof vest when he was shot
