Major Expansion for Nenagh Steelworks

A Tipperary firm has announced a major expansion of its operations as part of a multi-million euro contract secured with Dublin Port.

Nenagh based, Mackey Construction, specialises in steel fabrication and will be manufacturing pontoons and jetties for the docking of vessels at the capital’s Port.

The plant will now be doubling its workforce. This is due to the projected growth over the course of the next few years.

The company will now be hiring engineers, workers and apprentice welders and steel fabricators.

Darren Willis is the Project Manager at the Nenagh plant, he explains what it means for the immediate future.
