Low turnout so far across Tipperary for referenda.


Voting on the two referenda has been underway since 7 o'clock this morning at over 300 polling booths across Tipperary.

Stations remain open until 10 o'clock tonight as people cast their vote on whether or not to abolish the Seanad and on the introduction of a new Court of Appeal.

At 11am turnout across the county has been slow so far with Booth 1 in Borrisoleigh reporting just 1% with 2.5% in Booth 2.

Toomevara, which traditionally has a good turnout, reported 6% at this point with the same percentage in Thurles.

At the CBS in Nenagh, Booth 2 was just over 6% and Booth 1 at 4.3 while at the Gaelscoil in Nenagh turnout stood at 7%.

In Roscrea the turnout was approaching 5%.

In Holycross it's described as very quiet with a 4% turnout so far.

The counting of votes will start at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning.
