Liberty Square project nearly at public consultation phase

The aim of the ambitious project is to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety as well as boosting parking around the Mid Tipp Town Centre.

This project involves the removal of parking facilities in the central median in favour of two off-street car parks providing one hundred extra spaces.

Enlarged on-street parallel parking will also be provided along with widened footpaths while the existing pedestrian crossing will be replaced with 3 courtesy crossings.

The blueprints were unveiled to members of the Thurles Templemore Municipal District last summer and now officials say it’s almost ready to go to Part 8 which sets out the procedure for carrying out such developments.

A key part of this is public consultation where the plans will go on display for a number of weeks to allow people submit their views on aspects of the development.
