Legal challenge due before High Court today.

Businessman Breifne O'Brien's legal challenge to his prosecution on fraud charges is due to be heard by the High Court today.

The 51-year-old of Kilmore, Monkstown Grove, South Dublin is facing trial on multiple counts of theft and deception.

Among his alleged victims was Carrick on Suir farmer Louis Dowley.

O'Brien faces 19 charges of theft for sums totaling €11 million from five individuals.

No date has been set for the trial because the Cork born financier is trying to stop the prosecution.

The High Court is due to hear his challenge over 2 days.
