An insurance company is financing much needed repairs to Tipperary’s roads.

IPD Insurance has donated one million Euro to Tipp County Council for the works.

€240,000 of that is earmarked for the dire situation in Thurles. The council has also set aside one hundred thousand euro for the repairs.

Residents had been calling for the works for over a year, blaming the state of disrepair on the absence of the town’s council, which saw the loss of 1.2 million euro of funding to towns across Tipperary.

Speaking to Fran Curry on Tipp Today, Local Councillor, Jim Ryan, explained why the insurance company intervened.
