INMO accuse government over South Tipp overcrowding

Over the last few days there has been an ongoing war-of-words in relation to who secured a proposed patient-hotel for the Clonmel facility in a bid to ease chronic overcrowding.

Approval has also apparently been given for the recruitment of over 20 staff for the hospital.

However speaking on Tipp Today INMO General Secretary Liam Doran said it's vital that the overcrowding situation does not become a political football.

South Tipp General has consistently been one of the worst hit by overcrowding in recent weeks with upwards of 20 patients regularly being cared for on trolleys in the Emergency Department or in overflow areas of wards.

First time TD Jackie Cahill says it's irrelevant who gets to make announcements once the hospital doesn't have to endure the overcrowding crisis which hit it last winter.
