Influenza outbreak leads to restrictions at Thurles Hospital.

Visiting restrictions have been imposed at the Hospital of Assumption in Thurles.

This is due to a number of confirmed cases and suspected cases of Influenza Type A.

Strict infection control precautions are in place throughout the hospital.

As a result of the outbreak all admissions to the hospital have been cancelled until further notice while Day Hospital services have also been deferred.

A multidisciplinary team from the Mid West is assisting the hospital staff in managing the situation.

The Health Service Executive is asking the public to co-operate fully with these arrangements.

Families of residents and patients can obtain further details of the restrictions by contacting nurse management at the hospital.
