HSE deny claims by Deputy Mattie McGrath

The HSE has hit back at accusations that it's closing South Tipp General by stealth.

It follows claims by Independent Deputy Mattie McGrath, that embalming services have now been taken from the hospital.

He claimed last week that the HSE was removing embalming services from the hospital, and it displayed what in his opinion was the closing down of the hospital by stealth.

But the HSE has reacted to these claims, and said that embalming was not a service that was being provided by the HSE.

In a statement, it said that it is a service provided entirely by the undertaker, and says that any procedure taking place at the hospital, is now conducted by individual undertakers on their own premises, which is normal practice.

They denied the move, was an example of a service being taken from the Clonmel facility.
