HSE assessing needs of South Tipp General

The Clonmel health facility has been promised upgraded facilities over recent years, and is in need of funds to carry out the works.

The hospital operates a 24 hour Accident and Emergency department, along with maternity services and acute hospital care for the South Tipp region.

Tony O'Brien, Director General of the HSE, says they are working to assess the needs of the Clonmel hospital which should be finished within two months.

The review of the needs of the South/South West group of hospitals is being carried out by David Flory, the former Chief Executive of the NHS Trust Development Authority in England.

Director General Tony O'Brien says they will look at the most urgent needs once that report is completed.
