The local community on the Tipp – Offaly border are struggling to come to terms with the death of a young girl over the weekend.
It is understood the four year old died in an accident at a house which is being renovated in the Shinrone area.
Jodie Lawlor-Tyrrell from Cloughjordan is believed to have been visiting the property with her family on Saturday when the tragedy happened.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and she was taken to University Hospital Limerick but despite the best efforts of medical staff, the little girl lost her battle for life.
Gardai are treating the incident as a tragic accident.
