Plans to develop the former Stanwix Home in Thurles have taken a major step forward.
The Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government has given Thurles Lions Club approval to go to tender stage with the project.
Local TD Jackie Cahill has praised the efforts of the group for providing much needed housing and also preserving the historic site.
