The average monthly rent in Tipperary has increased by over €200 in the last four years.

That’s according to a new Daft.ie report which shows that the cost of renting in Ireland is the highest it has ever been.

Tipp’s average monthly rent stands at €767 per month, an increase of 9.2 percent in the year to the end of June.

Nationally, there was an increase of 12.4 percent over the last 12 months, averaging over €1,300 per month, far higher than their peak in 2008.

Earlier this morning on Tipp Today, Economist Ronan Lyons, told Fran Curry the issue of rising rents is down to a lack of rental supply.
