Hopes that Carrick wind farm proposal is now put to bed

Locals are hoping that the latest refusal for a wind farm near Carrick on Suir will be an end to the matter.

An Bord Pleanala has this week backed a decision from Tipperary County Council to rule against plans for 8 turbines near the villages of Ahenny, Faugheen and Ballyneale.

These would have stretched to 126 metres high and attracted huge opposition from the local community.

Chairman of the Suir Valley Environmental Group Milo Power says the area is just not suited to such development.
