Unions tell Govt they must sort out healthcare staffing crisis

Unions representing doctors and nurses have told the government to ‘get their heads out of the sand’ on the recruitment crisis in healthcare.

The Irish Medical Organisation, the INMO and the Psychiatric Nurses Association met earlier to discuss the Public Sector Pay Commission report.

They say government policy won’t make a difference to the health service until staffing issues are sorted.

And INMO General Secretary Liam Doran says they won’t stand for a drawn out process to achieve that.
