There are almost 70 people waiting for beds at hospitals serving Tipperary this afternoon.

Overcrowding is continuing today at University Hospital Limerick – where there are 49 patients on trollies and in overflow areas of wards – however, that’s down from 54 yesterday.

There are 19 people waiting in South Tipp General – down from 27 yesterday.

Cork University Hospital is the busiest hospital in the country today – with 54 people in need of a bed.

According to the INMO there are 562 people on trolleys and chairs in hospitals across the country.
Meanwhile, the UL Hospitals Group is appealing to North Tipperary people to consider all their treatment options at this busy time of year, including the Injury Unit at Nenagh Hospital.

Patients with appropriate injuries – mainly broken bones, burns, and sprains – can, in many cases, be treated for injuries far faster than in the Emergency Department at UHL.

The Injury Unit is open in Nenagh Hospital from 8am to 8pm – 7 days a week.
