Strict visitor restrictions are currently in place at University Hospital Limerick with significant volumes of patients requiring isolation.

A representative for the Dooradoyle Hospital, which serves patients in North Tipp, says the measures are necessary in the interests of patient care.

All infection control measures are in place and every effort is being made to manage the situation.

Only one visitor per patient is allowed and during visiting hours from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 9pm – and no children are permitted.

High volumes of patients are continuing to present to UHL this week, with 60 people being treated on trolleys yesterday.
