Overcrowding eases at South Tipp General

The number of patients without a bed at Tipperary’s main hospital has more than halved since yesterday.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation reports 13 people being cared for on trolleys and chairs at South Tipp General this lunchtime compared to 31 yesterday which made it the most overcrowded in the country.

University Hospital Limerick has 26 patients being cared for on corridors at the Emergency Department and in overflow areas of wards.

In all there are 384 people in a similar situation at hospitals across Ireland.
