North Tipperary nursing home sold

Millbrae Lodge Nursing Home in Newport is the Brindley Healthcare groups first deal in Munster.

Millbrae Lodge is a purpose-built nursing home located 16 kilometres from Limerick city and 22 kilometres from Nenagh which originally opened in 1999.

The price of the deal for the 81 bed Newport facility was not disclosed however some reports suggest a figure in the region of €5 million.

The Brindley group now operates ten nursing homes with a combined capacity of almost 600 beds in Counties Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Kildare, Tipperary and Laois.

This is Brindley Healthcare’s second deal in two weeks, with the group previously announcing the acquisition of the 79-bed Maynooth Lodge Nursing Home in Kildare.

Earlier this year, former Tánaiste and Minister for Health, Mary Harney, was also appointed to the company’s board.
